How to play

From here into the world in three steps

Make a character on this page, download the Windows client, and log in. Around five minutes, start to finish.

  1. Create your character

All it takes is an email, a password, and a name. There is no class to choose here — you begin at level 1 on Dawnport, the starter isle, where you can try every path and settle on a vocation by level 8 before you sail for the mainland.

  2. Download the client

One download and you have the whole game — the client and every tile of art a world this size needs. It’s Guidlands’ own build: no separate launcher, no extra installers, nothing between you and Dawnport.

Windows will warn you the first time — that’s normal for new, independent software. The client isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”. Choose More info → Run anyway. Prefer to check first? Match the SHA-256 below with Get-FileHash <file> -Algorithm SHA256 in PowerShell.

  3. Unzip, run, and log in

Open the folder and run Guidlands.exe. Pick a language the first time — the client already points at Guidlands, so there is no server address to type. Sign in with the email and password you just chose, then step onto Dawnport.

The world

A world drawn tile by tile

Painted login screens, top-down towns, temples and mines — a full-size continent you will not cross in an afternoon.

Early days

A real game, still being built

Guidlands is a working MMORPG in active development, playable today. Make a character above, download the client, and a few minutes later you’re standing in the world — fighting monsters, talking your way past a thousand NPCs, finding your footing on the mainland. Not a trailer and not a waitlist: this is the live server.

The world and the client are both ours. The map is a fork of an open-source world we have permission to build on, and the client is a build we made and brand ourselves. The one thing still standing in as a placeholder is the sprite art, and we’re redrawing it as original Guidlands work over time.
